OLDNESS

Oh, god, it's been forever and now we're in 2012. Soooo slack with this bloggity-blog. Whatevs.

Okay, so I DIDN'T paint the house last year. But the decorating bug has bitten me again, so I have 4 coffee table books about interior design on my lounge room side table. I've flicked through the pretty pics, made all my paint colour decisions and still haven't masked up a room. Wonder when I'll get to that?

OLDNESS:

I turn 42 in a couple of months (ace!)

I have grey hair at my part and temples. I have a plethora of smile lines, crows feet, forehead wrinkles and that vertical line between my eyebrows that makes me look like I'm always either concentrating or angry.

But to me, these things don't make me look all that old.

I think it's more to do with the single thick black hair that periodically grows out of my chin. And the uneven skin tone and pigmentation around my hairline and sides of my cheeks just in front of my ears. And the incredible amount of dark tan skin tags I have all over my turkey neck. And the fine vertical lines that litter my decolletage just above my bust, right where a pretty necklace or pendant would sit. And the crepey skin I seem to now have on the back of my hands. And having to move food labels either away from or closer to my eyes in order to read them. Zooming in with the iphone camera helps.

These things are WAY more ageing than a few wrinkles.

...and lots of makeup. I always thought that I'd need MORE makeup as I got older, but it's the opposite. Teenagers and young women can get away with PACKED on makeup - I now absolutely cannot. It looks terrible.

Oh, and for the decolletage wrinkles, apparently I require this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1225147/Anti-wrinkle-bra-promises-rid-women-crepey-cleavage-hit-shops.html

I know of a woman who, very attractively, wedges a big pair of rolled up footy socks in her cleavage to help stop the lines. As I despise bras, it'll have to be the footy socks.

On the bright side, these make me look young: giant sunglasses, a darkened room and beer goggles.
